2nd Grade Pouring Paint

Ms. Jones’ Second Grade class visited Mr. Cahalan in Forge this week. When the students walked in, there were several canvases along with plastic cups and paint set up on all the tables. Can you guess what project they were taking on? Resin painting! From mixing the paint, pouring, and spreading, to the resin overlay, the students did it all! Along with the project, they learned about primary, secondary, and complementary colors.

2nd grade is making these canvases as part of their Mosaic project for us to sell in our Open Air Market this year! They are focusing on the state of New York, so they are making these canvases and will be putting a vinyl cut out of the NY skyline that they make in VT’s vinyl room on the canvas. This is just one of the items that will be created by all the second-grade students. Creating these items to sell will help the students learn about economics and how to handle money when you are buying things that tie into what they have been learning in Social Studies and Math right now.

Make sure to visit Second Grade at Mosaic on April 23rd to get your unique creation!
