Mr. Carlos Amador

Mr. Carlos Amador is one of the founding teachers here at Village Tech. When VT first opened its doors in 2013, Mr. Amador taught U.S. History in a tiny corner portable classroom at our Cedar Hill campus. Needless to say, the space he was given did not stop him. The students thrived in his class as well as throughly enjoyed and looked forward to learning from him. After a few years, Mr. Amador decided that it was time for him to move and pursue another career opportunity. Little did he know, in 2020, he would come back to us. Mr. Amador is now teaching 9th Grade Geometry and Engineering (in a much bigger classroom at that). From building 3D geometric shapes using the GlowForge to engineering hydroponic ponds for Mosaic, Mr. Amador is known for pushing students out of their comfort zone and helping them learn using methods that aren’t commonly seen anywhere else. When asked why he decided to come back to Village Tech, Mr. Amador stated that…

…VT is the only school where my teaching skills could further grow. At VT, I have administrator support and tools to prototype and iterate. We are fortunate to have a school like this.

Not only are we glad to have him back in the Village, we now get to congratulate him on being selected to speak at CAMT this year! CAMT, or the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching, is a non-profit organization designed for the specific purpose of upgrading the quality of mathematics education in the State of Texas by presenting an annual conference for teachers and supervisors of mathematics designed to improve the knowledge and skills of mathematics teachers and supervisors. Needless to say, being selected to speak at this conference is a huge honor. We are very proud of Mr. Amador and are so excited to see what the future holds for him at VT.
