I love helping the little kids and Ms. Vittrup is so nice!
Ava Warren, a kindergartener in Mrs. Childress’ class is Village Tech’s Student of the Month for February. Ava was one of our completely virtual students during the 2020-2021 school year. Through the small screen of her virtual device, Ava and Ms. Vittrup were able to establish a special connection. Through virtual circle time, at-home projects, and many many special conversations Ms. Vittrup quickly created a special place in Ava’s heart. Ava and her mom brought up a plant she grew at home for the “Pre-k is Growing” exhibition at Mosaic. It was bigger than anything that the students had planted at school!
In her return to in-person learning this year, Ava now comes to Ms. Vittrup’s class most mornings before school begins and helps her with various tasks in the classroom. Most mornings you will find Ava helping serve breakfast to Ms. Vittrup’s students. Other mornings she is helping hang up backpacks and put away lunch boxes. There is never a task too big or too small for Ava’s wonderful heart. Ms. Vittrup said that “she is using all her talents to be an asset to our village and I know she will do great things beyond her time here.”
Ava’s willingness to serve, her proactiveness, and her overall great attitude are what make her our Squid of the Month. Way to go, Ava!
