Think back to your elementary days in school and that glorious time when field day rolled around. Was it hot? Did you compete against your friends to see who could run the fastest? Did you get a snow cone? Did you get to be on a team with your classmates? Out of all these activities, I bet you can remember all the fun you had.
Field Day is important because it lets students relax a little bit and have some fun with their teachers and their peers. Village Tech School’s elementary and middle students were able to participate in multiple events that let them have some much-needed fun as the school year comes to a close. We also had quite a few parents who came out not only to volunteer to help run the events, we even had some participate with the students.
We had teams of 1st graders running in a three-legged race, we had our Forge art teachers help paint fun designs on PreK’sf aces, we had 2nd graders battling it out in an intense round of tug-of-war, we had a huge group of 4th graders competing in the 50-yard dash. Wherever you looked, there were VT Squids having a blast!
